Twelve Steps to Healthy Parenting - For Parents
Maintaining balance on the home front is more of a challenge today than ever before. The family unit is often thrown off balance due to crises, death, divorce, relapse, and extended separation due to obligations such as military service. Changes in family structure disrupt family functioning.
In this workshop, parents, and other significant others, will be introduced to "Parenting in Recovery with Love and Logic." This program introduces basic communication and discipline strategies that strengthen families. Additionally, using the strategies espoused by Claudia Black participants are given an overview of family roles and guidelines for avoiding power struggles.
Learning Objectives
- Learn the Twelve Steps to Healthy Parenting, and community resources.
- Through the use of video and discussion, learn the rules of love and logic in parenting.
- Create a parenting plan applying these tools and rules to improving communication and discipline in their own families, and re-establishing appropriate boundaries and balance of power.
