Dr. Milliken is currently an Associate Professor and Chair of the Exercise and Health Sciences department at the University of Massachusetts Boston. She served as a State Representative, an Executive Committee member, and the Continuing Education Committee Chair for the New England (NE) chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and has been an active member in the chapter since 1998. She has also served as a judge for Abstract presentations and as a reviewer for Scholarship applications for NEACSM. Dr. Milliken was recently elected the President-Elect of NEACSM. Nationally, she has served on the ACSM Research Awards committee and is also an Editorial Board member of ACSM’s Health and Fitness Journal. She has lectured for ACSM Health Fitness Instructor workshops and is currently a peer-reviewer for several leading scientific journals such as Medicine and Science in Sport and Exercise, the Journal of Applied Physiology, and the European Journal of Applied Physiology. She has received NIH funding for her work and, currently, the focus of her research is on the role of exercise in long-term weight loss in children and their families. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine.
