Jerrilyn Quinlan graduated from Boston University with a BA in Psychology and received her MS in Gerontology from UMass Boston where she is currently a doctoral candidate in the Gerontology program. Prior to enrolling in the UMass doctoral program, Jerrilyn worked for ten years as a health writer for Harvard University Health Services. In that role, she wrote, edited, and supervised the development of behavior modification guidebooks on various topics such as healthy aging, physical activity, nutrition, and stress management. Some of her other work experience includes the following: interviewer for the University of Michigan Health and Retirement Study, a national study of older adults in the U.S.; administrative assistant at a local Council on Aging; research assistant in the West Roxbury VAMC aging study on veterans with a spinal cord injury; and, while an undergraduate at BU, research assistant in the Language and the Aging Brain lab. Since arriving at UMass, Jerrilyn has held both research and teaching assistantships for several professors and also worked part time at the MA Association of Older Americans, a statewide elder advocacy organization.
