- INSDSG697 Special Topics: Theory, Design and Practice of Online Synchronous Learning
- Course Description
- Asynchronous E-learning has many benefits including anywhere, anytime learning. However, for some topics and for some learners the immediate feedback of a synchronous session is a better choice. In this course students will learn to use best practices and strategies in the development and delivery of synchronous learning sessions. Students will be introduced to the common tools available in synchronous learning environments, cultivate facilitation skills, and gain practical experience in the design and delivery of synchronous learning sessions. Designing courses to take advantage of the unique aspects of live online synchronous is a challenge many instructional designers and trainers alike face in today’s fast paced world of e-learning. This course is designed to introduce the Instructional Design student to practices and strategies for design and delivery of synchronous online learning sessions. Students will take a problem solving approach, to developing effective synchronous learning because each instructional design assignment will present itself as a unique problem to be solved. Students will be introduced to the common tools available in synchronous environments and gain practical experience in design and delivery of synchronous live online programs.
