- MKT478 Special Topics: Two Markets and Two Universities
- Course Description
- The online Two Markets and Two Universities course will enroll students from UMass Boston and the University of Pannonia in Hungary. The course will explore the challenges of international marketing by focusing on marketing in two geographies, the US and Hungary. In addition, it will simulate a global business environment where students will be introduced to the real world challenges of managing team work, cultures and time zones while achieving management goals and objectives. The theoretical content will be presented through online video lectures covering important marketing topics as well as reading assignments.
The class will be divided into groups composed of students from UMB and the University of Pannonia. Through the group activity, each student will experience working with his/her peers from another culture and market. The groups will collaborate in the development of a marketing plan focusing on bringing to market US products in Hungary or Hungarian products in the US. Students who are interested in understanding global challenges in international marketing and management and willing to experience some of them first hand prior to embarking on their careers should be particularly interested in this course.
The online Two Markets and Two Universities course is an experimental marketing course which will test the feasibility of offering online courses combining students from UMB and universities located in other parts of the world. The course will be offered online in English and requires permission of the instructor. Some experience with Blackboard and Wimba bisynchronous communications is helpful.
