Carol Allen is the lead instructor and course designer for NU 360: Professional issues in Nursing. She has been a Pediatric Nurse for more than 27 years in various positions as an inpatient staff nurse, outpatient clinic nurse, and nurse manager. She graduated from UMass, Boston with her masters in Nursing as a Family Clinical Specialist and her BSN from Boston College. She has been teaching in the undergraduate program for more than 8 years and in the online, RN-BSN program for over 1 year.

Diane MacLean received her Bachelor’s of Science in Zoology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She received her Nursing degree from Berkshire Community College, Master of Public Health degree from the University of Texas, and Master of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Phoenix. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Sigma Theta Tau, and the American Holistic Nurses’ Association. Diane has experience as a Geropsychiatric Nurse caring for older adults in acute, long term and community settings. Her research interest is the effect of environmental stimuli on the behavior of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. She has been a Nurse Educator for 20 years teaching in LPN, ADN, and BSN programs.

Sherry Merrow received her EdD from Northeastern University, her MSN from the University of California San Francisco and her BS in Nursing from Cornell University. Dr. Merrow was a fulltime faculty member in the UMass Boston College of Nursing and Health Sciences from 1981-1994 and 2002-2006. During her tenure at UMass Dr. Merrow taught a variety to courses at both the baccalaureate and masterÕs levels. She also held a number of administrative roles including Undergraduate Nursing Program Director, Acting Graduate Program Director and Acting Associate Dean. Prior to taking on administrative roles, she was a certified medical-surgical clinical specialist. During her eight-year hiatus from UMass she served for seven years as the Associate Dean for Health Sciences at Endicott College and then spent a year traveling the United States. Her recent research has focused on factors associated with success on the nursing licensure examination (NCLEX). In 2008 she returned to UMass to teach in the online RN to BS program she helped to create.
