Ann holds an RN diploma from the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Emmanuel College and her Master of Science in Health Care Administration and Master of Science in Nursing as an Adult Nurse Practitioner with a sub-specialty in Occupational Health from Simmons College. In addition, she holds a Master of Science in Environmental Health with a concentration in Occupational Health from the Harvard University School of Public Health. She is currently enrolled in the PhD program in Health Professions Education at Simmons College.
Ann is board certified in homeland security level III (CHS-III), as a Diplomate of the American College of Healthcare Executives (CHE), as an adult nurse practitioner (NP) and as an Occupational Health Nurse-Specialist (COHN-S).
Ann has held a variety of teaching, clinical and administrative positions throughout her career. These positions have included teaching in the RN to BS program at UMass Boston since 2005, adjunct clinical faculty at Simmons College, managing the medical department at the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles during their indoor air quality crisis, Director of the Logan International Health Center and Director of Network Consulting for Operations for the CareGroup Occupational Health Network.
She has held positions in the community encompassing industrial, homecare and clinic settings, which included both internal employee health functions, as well as external clients in the occupational health setting. Currently Ann’s primary clinical practice is as an Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner with the Partners/Massachusetts General Hospital and the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center’s Needham Occupational Health Departments.
As a former contracted instructor for the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Ann has taught numerous classes on Incident Command, HAZMAT, Hospital Decon, Hospital Evacuation and Hospital PPE to employees of local area hospitals through the joint DPH/Fire Services Training Grant for Hospital Preparedness. Ann is also a Sergeant on the Mounted Unit for the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office. Her law enforcement background has greatly assisted her efforts in raising awareness of bioterrorism preparedness specifically in the area of surge capacity and community/hospital emergency preparedness and response.
Her areas of expertise include extensive knowledge of regulatory agencies such as DPH, OSHA, MSHA, FAA, RSPA and DOT, as well as in the areas of disaster preparedness, practice management and management information systems.

Diane MacLean received her Bachelor’s of Science in Zoology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She received her Nursing degree from Berkshire Community College, Master of Public Health degree from the University of Texas, and Master of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Phoenix. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Sigma Theta Tau, and the American Holistic Nurses’ Association. Diane has experience as a Geropsychiatric Nurse caring for older adults in acute, long term and community settings. Her research interest is the effect of environmental stimuli on the behavior of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. She has been a Nurse Educator for 20 years teaching in LPN, ADN, and BSN programs.
