I received my Ph.D. from the Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations at Harvard University. My area of research is the religious and cultural history of East Asia, with a focus on Korea and Japan. I have taught world history, Western civilization, and Japanese history at the University of Massachusetts Boston, and the Vietnam War and East Asian history at Bentley College.
