- This course is an introduction to biology. It will focus on the uniqueness of life within the physical universe. The subjects that will be covered include the matter and energy of life, the origin and evolution of life, photosynthesis, DNA, and mitosis & meiosis. This is an overview for students in the humanities and social sciences. No background in the natural sciences is required but is helpful.
Please note that tests are conducted on-line with the exception of the proctored final exam which is held at the UMass Boston campus. Students located at great distances will need to make arrangements for taking the final exam at an approved local site through http://www.ncta-testing.org/cctc/.
