Sharon Lamb, Ed.D., is a licensed psychologist and Chair of the Department of Counseling and School Psychology. She received her initiatl training in child abuse and neglect at Mass General Hospital as a fellow and then in the Family Violence Unit in Children’s Hospital in Boston as a post-doc. Since then she has taught courses on abuse and victimization at the graduate and undergraduate level. She has also worked with children who have experienced trauma in her clinical practice and through forensic evaluations for the courts in Pennsylvania, South Dakota, and Vermont. Her Harvard University Press book, The Trouble with Blame: Victims, Perptrators, and Responsibility, her edited book, New Versions of Victims, her trade book, The Secret Lives of Girls, and her psychotherapy book, Sex, Therapy, and Kids: Addressing their Concerns through Talk and Play (which won an award) all explore issues of sexual abuse, rape, society, and the treatment of victims. She has also worked with the Sexual Violence Prevention Project in Vermont as a co-chair of the Changing Media Representations Commitee and is currently doing research on the representation of sexual violence by the news media.
