NURSNG697 Special Topics in Nursing: Principles of Epidemiology
Course Description
This course builds on prior knowledge of the basic principles of epidemiology while introducing methods of epidemiologic analysis and its application to the field of advanced practice nursing. The course is intended to introduce students to the basic skills needed to critically interpret epidemiological literature and to perform analyses of epidemiologic, biostatistical, environmental, and other scientific data to address questions related to individual, aggregate, and population health. Students will analyze public use datasets and interpret published government reports describing population health status and the occurrence of diseases in populations at the local, state, and national levels.
