Historical Archaeology at Hassanamesitt Woods
May 26 - June 19, 2009The Department of Anthropology in conjunction with the Andrew Fiske Center for Archaeological Research sponsor a field school in historical archaeology at Hassanamesitt Woods in Grafton, Massachusetts.
Field School in Historical and Urban Archaeology, Newport, Rhode Island
May 26 - June 26, 2009The research theme of the project is "Interpreting the Lives of Merchants in Eighteenth-Century Newport," with a focus on the role of mercantile capital in shaping the urban landscape and the city’s social structures of race, class, and gender during the colonial period.
Field School in Prehistoric Archaeology in Belize
June 15 - July 8, 2009This summer the Anthropology Department will offer a field school on Maya archaeology in Belize, Central America. The project area and field camp are located in a tropical rainforest within the Program for Belize Conservation Area - a protected reserve for flora, fauna, and archaeological remains.
Archaeology on the Eastern Pequot Reservation
June 28 - July 31, 2009The Department of Anthropology is offering a five-week archaeological field course on the Eastern Pequot reservation, located in N. Stonington, Connecticut.
Coastal Ecology
July 19 - August 1, 2009This marine biology course serves as an introduction to field research methods and will familiarize students with the flora and fauna of the unique island of Nantucket.
