Intensive Math Review for MTEL and Beyond
This course is designed to prepare students to succeed on the mathematics portions of the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (new math section for General Curriculum MTEL and Math Middle School MTEL). In addition, this course is ideal for those who want to review or master math concepts for college placement tests, standardized graduate exams, or other educational and professional goals. The course covers all the essential topics to develop a deep understanding of math fundamentals including: functions, algebra, geometry, statistics, probability, word problems, graphing, solving equations, and operations.
This self paced course is divided up into eight comprehensive modules each including a lesson, resources, strategies, quizzes, practice problems with detailed explanations, and a test. The course allows students to strengthen their math skills at their own pace by offering them an ability to focus on what areas they need to review, while getting an intensive, fast-paced refresher of those areas with which they are already comfortable.
In addition to the modules, there are many learning tools to help students get the most out of their online course including ways to track progress, ability to instantly see areas for improvement, diagnoses of strengths and weaknesses, and opportunities for additional practice problems to continue to develop a strong math foundation. In addition to the online lessons and glossary, students can email or chat with the instructor throughout the length of the course for any further assistance in understanding the material.
At the end of this course, a student will possess both fundamental computation skills and a comprehensive, in-depth understanding of K-12 mathematics.
