Alcoholism/Chemical Dependency Treatment Service Program Certificate

Curriculum

A/CDTSP is designed to be completed as a one-year/two-semester path of study for on-campus students and may be started in either the fall or spring semester. Our online program may also be completed within one year; however, online students can design their path of study based on their individual needs. Online courses will be offered each semester and students are welcome to join these online courses at any semester.

Required field-based practica are supervised on-site under the guidance of qualified addictions specialists and monitored by college faculty through face-to-face meetings for the on-campus students and via conference calls or online chats for the online students. Participants currently employed in treatment facilities are encouraged to do their practicum where they work.

For personal or professional enrichment, individuals may enroll for single courses without acceptance into A/CDTSP.

Educational/Practicum/Work Hour Requirements for Credentials and Licensure

For students with credits or degrees in the behavioral sciences (e,g., BA in Psychology), credentialing boards will apply a certain number of earned credits toward the total educational hours required. Students in this position may opt out of the two additional courses if they find they have the sufficient educational hours.

States vary in the acceptance of CEUs toward licensure and certification. For instance, the State of MA does accept online CEUs toward licensure; however, the CADAC board does not. For any information about licensing or credentialing, please contact your licensing or credentialing boards.
