About the Program
The twenty-seven European countries that constitute the European Union are embarked on a dramatic process of transformation - rapidly moving towards a confederation with half a billion inhabitants. Such a process inevitably entails a complex web of interactions which affects all dimensions of public and daily life, from politics, economics, and social policy to trends in media, culture and art.UMass Boston in cooperation with The University of Derry and Inch House Irish Studies Center in Ireland is pleased to offer a program, The New Europe and the European Union: The View from Ireland. This program is designed to provide students an extraordinary opportunity to learn about, and experience firsthand, the dynamic and exciting transformations occurring in Europe today, with the special emphasis on the perspective offered by Ireland. Allows participants to earn up to six undergraduate credits.
Academic Credit
Participants who successfully complete the program receive six credits in:- IR/Polsci L 355 - The European Union
- Polsci 480 - Seminar (Politics and Society in the New Europe)
Students also have the option to enroll for three credits only. To receive all six credits, students complete a research paper plus a set of guided readings upon their return to the US.
